Capgemini has acquired on-demand purchasing systems provider IBX, including what it claims is the industry’s first global end-to-end procurement-as-a-service offering.
The two companies have been collaborating since last summer. IBX is headquartered in Stockholm and counts companies such as Ericsson, Kraft Foods, Ikea, Deutsche Post DHL and Lego System among its clients.
The new end-to-end BPO procurement service will include a full suite of products and services, including business process outsourcing, the software-as-a-service procurement platform, and an established global supplier network with more than 20,000 suppliers.
Leif Bohlin, chief executive of IBX Group and newly appointed head of the combined procurement BPO service entity, said: “Joining forces with Capgemini strengthens our global capabilities, paving the way for the next generation of a procurement-as-a-service provider.”
Hubert Giraud, global leader of Capgemini BPO, added: “Procurement platforms can provide immediate gains for companies looking to outsource processes. In addition, we enable clients to manage their sourcing strategy on a global basis, helping them manage their business better.”
