Oakwood Environmental Services has selected Optrak’s vehicle routeing and scheduling software to plan its waste collection and recycling service.
Optrak’s specialised functionality for the waste industry includes a loader/loading facility which allows it to cope with collections and deliveries to the same customers, including orders made up of multiple parts that can only be transported in specific compartments or containers.
The software automatically manages the weight and volume limits on each vehicle throughout the planning process to ensure vehicles aren’t overloaded and that all rules on hazardous waste collection are adhered to, as well as managing driver hours.
Michael Sneath, compliance manager at Oakwood Environmental Services, said: “We have a highly complex transport requirement which is extremely time consuming due to the complexity and number of different factors that we need to consider…Optrak will enable us to plan more effectively and ensure our vehicles travel the least distance while delivering a high quality service. As a result of using Optrak we will cut fuel and running costs and minimise our carbon footprint.”
