Fashion company Gerry Weber International has selected Nordic ID as its handheld RFID supplier.
Nordic ID’s PL3000 UHF RFID Cross Dipole computers will be used most heavily in goods receiving and inventory management at about 150 stores.
“Nowadays it takes us about two days to complete the inventory on a 200 sq ft retail space,” says Christian von Grone, chief information officer at Gerry Weber. “After the rollout, this process will take only about ten minutes.”
The handhelds are able to read tags up to four feet away, even through closed boxes. Additionally, because of the cross-polarising antenna the devices are also capable of reading tags horizontally and vertically.
The 800-gram handheld has a battery charge of up to 20 hours.
