Deutsche Papier has selected Optrak’s vehicle routeing software for enterprise-wide deployment across Germany.
The software will be used locally for daily planning at four depots and simulation tests indicate it has the potential to cut transport costs by 15 per cent for the company.
Deutsche Papier currently operates fixed routes at each depot which is not proving to be efficient enough. It also doesn’t allow for customer service requests for deliveries to be made during specific windows.
“Our analysis shows that by optimising our daily transport planning and scheduling with Optrak we can make significant savings in the current financial year, and anticipate achieving a return on investment in just six to twelve months,” said Frank Lischke, project manager, Deutsche Papier.
The wholesaler is currently implementing Optrak into its largest depot in Germany at Bensheim and will roll out the software across the remaining depots in 2010.
