Scottish wholesale distributor Filshill has selected Optrak Distribution Software’s vehicle routeing software for its first step away from manual planning.
They anticipate a return on investment within weeks. Transport manager, Robin Spalding said: “We estimate that we can potentially cut our vehicle fleet by as much as 10 per cent… In addition to a reduction in driver’s hours, we will make a large fuel saving contributing to a rapid return on our investment.”
Order information will be downloaded from the Seven Swords system into Optrak where a pick list will be generated to optimise routes for Filshill’s fleet of 30 vehicles.
The Optrak system uses a load builder function to optimise vehicle loading, and will also allow strategic distribution planning. This will allow Filshill to test potential changes to service level agreements, the fleet mix or time windows.
