Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK has reduced carbon emissions by nine per cent as part of its Mode Neutral Distribution System, which launched in January.
The system has taken 46 trucks off the road per month, and Hellmann reckons that by using the system, its customers can cut their own carbon emissions by up to 66 per cent.
The system makes deliveries and collections via air, sea or road freight on the same vehicle, and links same night consignments from all distribution locations to all other points.
Hellmann UK’s Commercial Director, Matthew Marriott, said: “The figures supporting the success of the Mode Neutral Distribution System prove that it is possible to cut carbon emissions and reduce your carbon footprint even when transport is central to the business. By making sure all systems and processes are run as tightly as possible we’ve been able to see a huge impact on levels of emissions in just six months and have had fantastic feedback from customers.”
