Waitrose has redesigned the dock area at its Bracknell distribution centre, including the installation of a £373,000 by Sterkil Stokvis for its chilled warehouse.
The company supplied pre-cast concrete loading bays for 31 dock levellers, including 17 P Series parallelogram dock levellers and 14 X Series telescopic lip levellers.
Additional equipment included 31 doors, 14 WIS combinations seals, seven foam dock pads, traffic lights, PE bumpers and composite control panels.
The pre-cast dock leveller pits can be single or multiple self-supporting units and can be configured to suit the requirements of each application. The units can take any Stertil Stokvis dock leveler, and are cast in steel or timber moulds.
Prior to updating the system, Waitrose had been experiencing problems with toppling milk trolleys and damage to shelters during loading and unloading operations.
The food retailer had previously been experiencing problems with toppling milk trolleys and damage to shelters during loading and unloading operations.
Colin Robson of Waitrose, said: “We now have reliable, high-performance dock equipment which allows us to load and unload vehicles quickly and efficiently, without the levels of damage and spillages we were experiencing before.”
