Wilkinson Stores is to roll out Isotrak’s Active Transport Management System (ATMS) across is delivery fleet.
The distribution fleet is managed by Canute and serves a network of 338 stores from two distribution centres – Worksop and Magor.
Simon Lowe, head of supply chain at Wilkinsons, said: “The efficiency with which we operate our distribution and retail business and therefore serve our customers is an essential ingredient of our success.
“ATMS will provide complete consistency in our approach to transport management and with the link to Paragon aims to make the very best use of the resources we have. The advantages of an integrated plan can be seen not only in vehicle, driver and labour efficiency, but also in the environmental benefits it offers in reducing unnecessary road miles.”
Implementation planning is in progress, with vehicle tracking and driver communications soon to be underway.
Resource planning facilities and the creation of plan versus actual performance data is due to be completed by October.
Wilkinson Stores began trading in 1930 when JK Wilkinson opened his first general store in Leicester. Sales are now more than £1.5 billion a year and this year it will open 17 new stores.
