Briggs Equipment, which is taking over the Yale distributorship in the UK, has confirmed its partnership with Forkway, the Yale dealer with centres at Dewsbury, Doncaster, Amersham and Ower near Southampton.
Briggs chief Richard Close said: “I am extremely pleased to announce the strategic partnership between Briggs and Forkway, who have such a strong reputation and have demonstrated real staying power throughout their 50 years in business.”
Briggs announced in June that it would become sole national distributor for Yale Materials Handling, replacing its existing Caterpillar Lift Truck distributorship.
As part of the agreement, NACCO Materials Handling Group is selling the Yale UK business to Briggs Equipment UK.
Forkway became an authorised dealer for Yale Europe in September 2008 selling and supporting the full range of Yale counterbalance and warehouse trucks. It moved from Nissan which it had represented for 29 years.
Briggs is part of the Sammons Enterprises equipment distribution division, and sister companies Briggs Equipment Mexico and Briggs Equipment US are already major distributors of Yale Materials Handling products.
Close said: “Forkway and Briggs recognise each other’s strengths, developed over many years, recognising and satisfying their customer’s specific needs. Now we want to move to the next level, offering an even better service at local levels in key local markets as well as nationally through a broad-based supply network that adds value for customers from day one.”
