Developer Spen Hill has submitted a planning application on behalf of Tesco for a new regional distribution centre at Beam Reach Business Park in Dagenham.
The application was submitted to London Thames Gateway Development Corporation and the London Borough of Havering on 30th July following public consultation with local residents and councillors.
It seeks full planning permission for the hub, along with a processing facility for recycling used packaging as part of the Tesco environmental commitment, and a vehicle maintenance unit.
Outline planning permission has also been sought for additional warehousing and improvements to the nature reserve.
More than 900 local people will be employed at the site initially, increasing to 1,200 once the site is fully operational.
