A device which warns tanker drivers of imminent roll-over has won this year’s EuroTra Safety and Innovation Award.
The device consists of a sensor unit mounted between the rear axles of the trailer and a receiver mounted in the truck’s cabin, providing drivers with instant readings as to stability.
It was created by Bertocco Shell, a collaboration between Bertocco Automotive Engineering of Italy and Shell Chemicals BV of Holland.
The judging panel for the award included: Geert Machenil, EuroTra president; Carl Johan Almqvist, traffic and product safety director for Volvo Trucks; and Hans Konings, EuroTra Co-ordinator.
