Kuehne + Nagel has built a new hub in Chaponnay, south east of Lyon, as transhipment platform for domestic and European groupage.
The third party logistics firm took over French groupage specialist Alloin in January 2009, and has continued with its strategy to extend its road logistics operations in France.
Chairman Klaus-Michael Kuehne who officially inaugurated the facility, said: “The inauguration of this new facility in the important Lyon area is a further step in our strategy to significantly extend our road logistics activities in France”
The 68,900 sq ft facility has 56 loading bays, a 220 metre long circular sub-floor conveyor chain, video surveillance and modern labelling systems. It has been installed to provide fast and secure freight handling and high process efficiency.
