Express operator APC Overnight has increased pre-tax profit to £2 million for the past year from £300,000 in 2009.
Managing director Ivor Skinner said: “Everyone has worked hard to drive down costs throughout the business. For example, our administration bill has been reduced by more than ten per cent due to efficiency improvements.”
The company has also been expanding its services with depots extending operations, warehousing and moving to larger sites.
Plans include investment in IT and expanding services globally. “Our main focus for IT will be the implementation of enterprise wide systems that are scalable,” said Skinner.
“In addition to continuing to improve and maintain the quality of our UK-wide services, we have plans to take APC Overnight services worldwide with our own APC International Service. Our primary focus will be road and rail partnerships with complementary European network operators.”
