RS Components has installed a new supply chain planning system for its European operations, the SO99+.
The distributor of electronics and maintenance products has deployed the SO99+ from ToolsGroup, which is designed to improve forecast accuracy and inventory optimisation for up to 500,000 product lines.
To date, SO99+ calculations have led RS to significant reductions in overall stock holdings as well as benefits from new stocking profiles and the physical redistribution of stock around the European network of 11 warehouses.
RS is now calculating an 18 month forward view of demand, based on three years of demand history at an order level, and after several months of business preparation and simulations to understand the system, it is driving all inventory purchase orders across Europe.
