TNT Express has introduced a direct scheduled B747 freight service connecting Chongqing, the manufacturing centre in western China, with TNT’s hub at Liege.
The service will run three times a week to meet growing demand from the region’s high-tech industry. In the first eight months of 2010, exports from Chongqing rose 62.1 per cent to $4.2 billion.
Michael Drake, regional managing director, TNT North Asia said: “As the first company to provide dedicated freight service to Chongqing, we are well-positioned to seize the growing business opportunity between Western China and Europe.”
