Trimble Mobile Resource Management has launched real-time monitoring software called Driver Safety as part of its GeoManager system.
The telematics system gives instant feedback to drivers on their safety performance via audible beeps and red, amber and green lights in the cab. At the same time it relays real-time safety information back to managers.
Drivers log in to the vehicle with a key fob called an iButton which marries the driver, the vehicle, and the control centre in real-time. The system assesses drivers as individuals
If a driver is travelling too fast, braking too harshly, or even cornering too severely the system will warn the person at the wheel. The system reports specific violations and averages driving events over distance and time to create a safety score.
This detailed breakdown of how vehicles are being handled will enable fleet managers to make recommendations on how driver skills can be improved, or to reward excellent driving skills.
