FedEx chief Fred Smith is to receive the Marshall Foundation Award in recognition of his success in building a company that has changed business around the world and for the generous use of FedEx resources to provide humanitarian assistance to countries and regions in need.
The award is named after George C Marshall, the US general whose “Marshall Plan” helped rebuild Europe after the second world war.

Smith will receive the award at a lunch at American Red Cross headquarters in Washington DC on 16th November.
Past recipients include former president George H W Bush and general Colin Powell.
