Asda has taken a 370,000 sq ft ambient distribution centre at Warrington which is being refurbished with 20 new dock-level loading doors.
It has agreed to take a five-year lease on the former DHL unit at Dallam Lane in Warrington. The work is expected to be completed by the end of January 2011 when the building will become fully operational.
The rent on the Prupim-owned facility will be in the region of £1,000,000 per annum. Prupim was represented by CBRE and Asda was advised by the Manchester office of Colliers International.
“Asda had a requirement for additional ambient space in the area with a reasonable level of flexibility. The Dallam Lane unit is in a good location and following the improvements to the unit and the loading it will work well from an operational perspective,” said Mike Walker, director and head of Colliers International`s Manchester logistics and industrial team.
Jonathan Thorne, associate director at CBRE North West, added: “The deal is a positive sign for the industrial property market, where there are still deals to be done – especially in the North West.”
