Axxom Software has unveiled its Orion-PI Fleet Planning software, which is designed to improve transport efficiency, reduce environmental impact and lower costs.
The system creates calculations based on delivery data, including order structure, product range, geographical distribution of customer base, delivery frequency and delivery quantities.
The software uses the data to develop a strategic routeing plan and the optimal use of the truck fleet to operate these routes, considering all relevant cost factors.
The optimisation process also takes into account individual constraints and requirements including the average life of trucks, seasonal peaks, service level requirements and loading and unloading times.
The use of rental vehicles and third party service providers can also be integrated into the calculation.
