Towergate Insurance Telford has launched a pay-as-you-drive insurance product for the haulage industry.
Azudrive calculates a rate per kilometre for the customer from their standard insurance premium, allowing the cost of their premium to be calculated by the number of kilometres travelled multiplied by their individual rate per kilometre on a monthly basis. The product will use digital tachographs, now fitted as standard in all heavy goods vehicles since 2006, to record the distance travelled.
Towergate is insurance broker to the Freight Transport Association and the Road Haulage Association. Managing director Larry Smith said it was an “undeniably fairer method of insurance premium calculation”.
