Manufacturing and food retail logistics provider NFT is extending its existing flagship Daventry site with a 120,000 sq ft chill store.
The extension is expected to cost a further £2 million in addition to the original investment of £6 million in the site. This will increase the capacity to 20,000 pallets within 200,000 sq ft and is due to be finished in April 2011.
The site has a deep chill facility, for -1°C storage, which accounts for 28 per cent of its operating capacity. Earlier this year NFT celebrated picking over a million cases a week and reaching break-even point on its initial £6m investment within 2 years.
The extension was commissioned to provide a shared-user network to enhance its existing operational capabilities. It is forecasted that over 50 per cent of the additional capacity is already accounted for.
Since opening, the facility has attracted brands such as Nom Dairy, Yoplait, Forza, and Gü. In the last three months NFT have also secured new customers such as Mission Foods, Sweet Port and Cranberry Foods.
Dale Fiddy, NFT’s sales and marketing director said: “NFT’s system controlled warehouse solutions backed by the biggest chilled transport network in the UK give NFT the scale and ability to provide optimum cost/quality solutions.”
