PD Logistics has taken delivery of three Cheetah Fastback trailers for its new contract with Taylors of Harrogate.
The trailers, built by Manchester based Cartwright Group, will operate between the PD Logistics warehouse in Middlesbrough and the production facility of Taylors of Harrogate, in Harrogate.
PD Ports ten-year contract to handle all of Taylors of Harrogate’s tea and coffee imports was won after a trial twelve month port-centric logistics project proved successful.
The deal means a complete overhaul of the Yorkshire tea and coffee merchant’s distribution chain. Previously, the bulk of its imports arrived via Felixstowe, with a smaller percentage coming through Tilbury.
However, it says allowing Teesport to handle 100 per cent of its tea and coffee distribution will reduce CO2 emissions from road transport and congestion, resulting in 100,000 fewer road miles per year.
