Sports company Puma has awarded Damco its logistics contracts for Mexico and to handle the entire volume of its sister company, Tretorn, in Sweden.
The agreement requires Damco to handle Puma’s imports into Mexico, as well as Tretorn’s entire volume from China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand into Sweden.
Puma started its operations in Mexico three years ago, with Damco, a relationship which now covers all import origins.
Joris Ploemen, Damco’s global key account manager for Puma used to be the head of the supply chain operations in Mexico, and said of Puma: “They are very open-minded and eager to learn and understand the advantages and disadvantages of the global ‘plug and play’ set-up with Damco. We took that as an opportunity to add more value to our services.”
Tretorn, a Swedish outdoor brand, has been with the Puma organisation since 2001. Ulf Kinneson, Puma Nordic chief executive officer, said: “Puma Nordic AB has decided to incorporate its sister company, Tretorn Sweden AB, in joint shipping through Damco. We look forward to continuous good relationship with Damco and even more beneficial through joint volumes.”
