The 152,000 sq ft build to suit project is part of the 15.5 acre G.Park Enfield site, one of the largest industrial warehouse sites on the M25. The building is already under construction and due for completion in the first quarter of 2011.
Tesco will fit it out as a combined home deliveries and express logistics centre, serving customers across north London and the Home Counties.
Planning permission for the site was secured in 11 weeks and the building will reach practical completion in just 20 weeks. Tesco and Gazeley have agreed early access for the Tesco fit out team as early as week 9.
Nigel Godfrey, senior vice president of UK operations at Gazeley, said: “E-commerce developments are an increasing requirement for retailers and being able to deliver efficiently and effectively is vital. We are looking to build on this deal to deliver solutions for major companies that have urgent requirements for such facilities.”
Agents CB Richard Ellis, Jones Lang LaSalle and Lambert Smith Hampton acted for Gazeley and Lambert Smith Hampton also acted for Tesco.
