GAC has signed an agency agreement with TransAtlantic to support Arctic oil and gas exploration, and extending the use of the Northern Sea Route.
Under the agreement GAC will provide shipping, logistics and marine services, and TransAtlantic will conduct offshore icebreaking, bulk, container and RoRo Baltic services.
Oil and gas extraction is expected to increase in new fields in the Arctic waters, requiring specialist ice-going offshore vessels with specially-trained crews.
