The Environment Agency is to run vehicles at eight of its depots on bio-diesel.
Waste to energy company Convert2Green will supply the depots in England and Wales with B25 bio-diesel which uses recycled cooking oil.
The agency has a target of reducing its CO2 emissions 33 per cent by 2015.
“The waste cooking oil is sourced in the UK, recycled and blended to create the bio-diesel so it has a low carbon footprint and the whole waste to energy process is undertaken in a plant that is powered by its own bio-fuel generators,” said Andy Webb of Convert2Green.
