Psion has shortened its operating company name, removing the name “Teklogix”. It says the move will create a more effective global brand.
Chief executive John Conoley said: “Our research showed that we had to remove the word “Teklogix” from our name, to unite the business around one, clear, global identity.”
“We found that the complexity of the dual company name was impacting our business by confusing our customers, resellers and other key stakeholders, especially in new markets for Psion. We also took the opportunity to refresh the brand to make it properly mirror our business strategy and to work better in the digital world.”
Psion was founded in 1980 and is widely credited with creating the world’s first volume produced PDA with the launch of the Psion Organiser in 1984. It bought Teklogix in Canada in 2000 re-branded it Psion Teklogix. This now forms the core of Psion Plc’s business.
