Ontex UK, which makes nappies and sanitary towels, has agreed a new three-year contract with RCS Logistics for warehousing, logistics and home delivery services.
The deal extends a ten year relationship and RCS will now provide home delivery services for the North of England from its Wakefield depot.
Ontex operations manager Olly Craughan said: “RCS continues to meet our requests in our fast moving operation to a high standard, succeeding in continuously hitting our service level requirement of 98.5 per cent and knows that it is extremely important to our customers that they receive the correct product at the right time.”
RCS is also responsible for home deliveries in Derbyshire, Essex, London, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and East Riding.
Incoming bulk product from Ontex is stored in RCS’ 16,500 square foot warehouse in Corby. Using an EDI link to Ontex’s order system, RCS warehouse operatives then pick and label products according to instructions from Ontex. These products are then loaded onto vans ready for home deliveries. Deliveries are provided to four types of end customer: direct to an NHS patient’s home, to hospitals, care homes or doctors’ surgeries. For these services, RCS has a fleet of 25 dedicated vans that operate five days per week.
