Fabory has selected Vanderlande to install a zone picking system at its warehouse in Brno, Czech Republic to avoid rising labour costs and to increase capacity.
The new system uses 16 standard shelf pick locations divided over 2 floors. Six pick locations on the ground floor are also equipped with flow racks to replenish the shelves more efficiently.
After order picking, cartons are moved to the shipping area for quality control, packing, automatic labelling and strapping and sortation with a capacity of 300 order cartons per hour.
The system and process are controlled by Vanderlande’s Vision warehouse control system, interfaced with the SAP host system. The development will begin in early 2011 and is expected to go into operation mid 2011
Fabory is group of businesses that manufacture and market fastening tools and materials worldwide. It has some 85 branches in 14 countries. The central warehouse in Brno supplies eastern European countries.
Vanderlande has previously installed a goods-to-man based compact picking system at Fabory’s headquarters in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
