Meat supplier Tulip has signed a five-year deal worth £50 million with Gist to become a key logistics provider.
The company is a supplier of pork, bacon, sausage and cooked meat products to the UK’s retail and foodservice sectors.
Gist will provide regional distribution of raw and finished pork products between factories and to final customer destinations including wholesalers and retailers.
The transport operations will be focused primarily in the Midlands and East Anglia and involves the TUPE transfer of around 60 employees into Gist, along with 20 vehicles.
Andy Hopkins, group logistics director, Tulip, said: “Gist’s innovative approach to our transport operations demonstrated clearly that they were able to provide us with the value and service we require. Gist is a specialist in the chill supply chain which meant we could be confident that our strict temperature controls are in place at all times.”
