Following the successful completion of a new £6.5m, 110,000 sq ft warehouse in Pontarddulais near Swansea for Macmillan Publishers, property specialist sbh has now been appointed to project manage the replacement of two existing units on the site with a new single warehouse.
The work involves demolishing two outdated low level buildings and the construction of a new 63,900 sq ft, 12.9m internal height unit, with a corridor link to the existing warehouse. It will be used for bulk storage on nine-level high pallet racking served by narrow-aisle stackers.
Roof and in-rack sprinklers have been specified to protect the hundreds of thousands of books in store. 10 per cent area roof lights and energy efficient lighting will help to reduce operational costs and the building’s carbon footprint.
