FedEx Express has taken over the logistics, distribution and express businesses of Indian group AFL and its affiliate Unifreight India.
Gerald P Leary, regional president of FedEx Express, said: The acquisition of the AFL and UFL businesses is in line with our long-term strategy to grow our international business and better serve our customers seeking to enter or expand their businesses in the Indian market.”
FedEx will now be able to provide a more comprehensive portfolio of services in India, including air express, domestic ground and value-added services such as warehousing, logistics solutions and 3PL.”
The acquisition includes AFL Logistics and Distribution, which consists of a wide range of products and services, including supply chain management, warehousing, and a ground distribution network that provides day-definite ground transport for small packages and heavyweight shipments through more than 200 daily scheduled routes
It also takes in AFL WiZ Express, which offers domestic express transport services through more than 150 Express Service Centres, serving more than 5,000 post codes across 144 cities with over 1,000 couriers in India.
