Supermarket retailer Morrisons has secured planning permission for an extra RDC in Bridwater, Somerset.
The new 375,000sq ft warehouse facility which is subject to a Section 106 agreement will be used as a food preparation and storage warehouse serving the South West. The facility could create up to 650 jobs.
The development will be built on the old cellophane factory on Bristol Road and will involve demolishing some existing buildings to make way for two gatehouses, a weighbridge gantry and canopy, an LPG store, and a 323-space car park.
Conditions of the approval include the extension of an acoustic fence to block out the noise of passing lorries. Heavy Good Vehicles will also not be allowed to park on residential streets.
The site is part of an £11m redevelopment of that area which will see 2,000 new homes and 3,000 new jobs created.
The Morrisons scheme is in addition to its 800,000 sq ft mega shed facility in Bridgwater which is expected to be operational next year.
