Culina hires Oakley for ambient
Culina Logistics has hired Mark Oakley as its ambient network planning manager.
Oakley joins from Elddis Transport where he worked as regional manager covering Manchester and Worksop for four years. He has 23 years experience in the ambient logistics industry.
Oakley will be responsible for developing the company’s transport network to maximise efficiency levels through the integration of the company’s ambient and chilled fleet. He will be based at Culina’s site in Wolverhampton.
New head for DHL in Bangladesh
DHL’s global forwarding division has appointed a Nooruddin Chowdhury in the new role as head of Bangladesh, as part of a US$10 million investment in the logistic capabilities of the country.
Chowdhury has some 20 years experience in the industry and will be responsible for growing the organisation and setting the benchmark for supply chain logistics in South Asia.
DHL Global Forwarding Bangladesh was formed last year as a joint-venture between DHL and Trade Clippers Cargo. A DHL Fashion and Apparel Center of Excellence was recently launched in Dhaka to capitalise on this fast-growing logistics sector worth an estimated US$3.9 billion per annum in South Asia.
IATA makes von Lueders Asia Pacific vice president
The International Air Transport Association has appointed Maunu von Lueders as regional vice president for Asia-Pacific based in Singapore.
Von Lueders is a Finnish national and as served as chief executive of two international carriers, JetLite in India and Nordic Airlink/FlyNordic in Sweden.
He said: “With the IATA Asia Pacific team, my priority is to deliver regional leadership on global industry challenges. These include improving service and cutting costs with Simplifying the Business, building on the success of the IATA Operational Safety Audit with the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations, and delivering on the industry target to tackle climate change with a 50 per cent net reduction in carbon emissions by 2050 compared to 2005.”
Beluga hires Roehl
Beluga Shipping has appointed Joerg Roehl its head of global sales. He will be responsible for leading both the Beluga sales team worldwide as well as its global agent network.
