Supply chain executives are still concerned with demand volatility in a post-recession world, according to Capgemini’s study, Supply Chain Agenda 2011.
The study found that that the top two business drivers for supply chain executives in 2011 are operating a reliable supply chain in a volatile environment, while simultaneously dealing with rising material costs. Some 40 per cent of respondents said demand volatility was their number one business driver and 35 per cent placed increased material / service costs at number two.
When the respondents were asked to name their top supply chain projects in 2011, some 45 per cent chose improving supply chain visibility, while 44 per cent went for business process redesign.
