Soft drinks maker AG Barr has closed its Mansfield site after over moving over to a third party primary distribution system.
Last year the company, which makes Irn-Bru, signed a three-year warehousing and distribution contract worth £18 million with Eddie Stobart. The deal involves the consolidation of deliveries at a newly created central stockholding warehouse in Crick and distribution to retailers throughout the UK.
The company has also been investing in its plant at Cumbernauld, and this together with the move to a 3PL, made the Mansfield site redundant.
In its annual results chairman Ronald Hanna said: “The main operational changes were at Cumbernauld, where the current phase of investment in production capacity is nearing completion, and at Mansfield where the site closure is also largely complete and its sale is agreed. In addition the move during the year to outsourcing primary distribution was implemented and is going well.”
