DHL Global Forwarding has expanded its cold chain network with a new competence centre at Vienna Airport, now offering start-to-finish refrigeration along the entire supply chain.
The facility expands the range of services available to the Life Sciences and Healthcare industries.
This will combine with the launch in the summer of DHL’s cold chain Europe, a pan-European road freight pallet network dedicated to the Life Sciences and Healthcare industry, which will be connected with the Vienna competence centre.
The Vienna centre is expected to deal with some 20,000 pallets annually. Each item will be marked for placement in a specific temperature range.
Goods can be stored in temperature zones of between 2-8 °C and 15-25 °C.
Alongside its warehousing service, it also offers loading and unloading of refrigerated containers, packing of products, co-ordination of the freight space and organisation of the necessary transport equipment.
The site’s team of experts is also developing products, solutions and services to guarantee safe and problem-free passage along the entire supply chain, from manufacturing line to end consumer
Ronald Friedreich, managing director DHL Global Forwarding Austria, said: “Our new Life Science Competence Centre is of particular importance for our customers in the drug and medical device industry. We’re expanding our global cold chain network.”
