Karl Gernandt was elected chairman of Kuehne + Nagle’s board od directors, after Klaus-Michael Kuehne’s recommended him to be his successor.
Kuehne said: “I am convinced that Mr. Gernandt as my successor in the function as Chairman will ensure stability and continuity, fostering the company’s further development.”
The board made Kuehne its honorary chairman, and he will remain member of the nomination and compensation committee.
K+N also announced that Peter Ulber, a member of the management board, will not extend his contract at the end of the year, citing personal reasons.
All aboard at the International Air Cargo Association
Four air cargo industry executives have been elected onto the Board of Directors of The International Air Cargo Association.
Oliver Evans, chief cargo officer of Swiss International Airlines has been elected as vice chairman of TIACA. He has accountability for the cargo and mail business of Swiss WorldCargo and is a member of the extended management group of Swiss International Air Lines and a member of the group executive committee of Lufthansa Cargo Group. He previously worked for BAX Global and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Neel Shah, senior vice president and chief cargo officer, Delta Air Lines, leads approximately 1,800 employees worldwide and oversees a $1 billion freight and mail business. Before joining Delta, Neel served as VP Sales and Marketing for United Airlines Cargo. He also sits on the SkyTeam Cargo executive board, the Air Transport Association’s Executive Council and the board of cargo 2000.
Vladimir Zubkov is vice-president of Volga-Dnepr Group of Companies, responsible for relations with international organisation, governments and partners. Before joining Volga-Dnepr, he spent over 20 years with ICAO Air Transport Bureau, responsible for the development of economic policies, facilitation, regulatory and institutional issues and, later, as director, planning and global coordination.
Jason Foote, vice president international air & charter operations, UPS Airlines, will oversee the coordination of all non-US network activities for UPS Airlines, chartered aircraft and common carriage lift. In his 21-year career with UPS, he has worked accross industrial engineering and a stint with UPS’s corporate office in Atlanta.
Georgiou becomes president of ALEM
The Association of Loading and Elevating Equipment Manufacturers has appointed Andy Georgiou as its president.
Also newly appointed, to serve as ALEM’s vice president, is Marcus Clissold of Pickerings Lifts based in Stockton-on-Tees.
Georgiou has worked in the loading bay industry for almost 25 years and headed up Stertil Stokvis’s loading bay division since 2007.
ALEM represents the interests of UK manufacturers and suppliers of loading bay equipment including dock levellers, scissor lifts, tail lifts and dock shelters.
Board role for distribution chief
Neil Emery, head of customer service and distribution for frozen food supplier Apetitio, has been appointed to the firm’s UK board.
Emery, has been responsible for huge improvements in both its customer service performance and the efficiency of the Portbury-based logistics operation since he joined in 2008.
Damco South America chief
Damco, the logistics arm of the AP Moller-Maersk, has hired Roberto Moreno as managing director for the east coast of South America cluster.
He will be based in São Paulo and will be responsible for Damco’s operations in Argentina and Brazil, as well as for Damco’s agents in Uruguay and Paraguay.
Moreno joins Damco from Schenker Brazil, where he spent the last five years as Operations Director, responsible for all country branches and profit centres. He was previously São Paulo district manager and campinas branch manager.
He has developed his professional career working for multinational companies such as Kuehne & Nagel, Mercedes-Benz, and Panalpina.
