Spanish cosmetics group Colomer has chosen Kuehne + Nagel to handle its warehousing and distribution. The move means that Colomer’s logistics operations in its current warehouses in Germany and France will gradually be consolidated in K+N’s site at Biebesheim.
The move is due to be completed by autumn 2011. Kuehne + Nagel will supply professional hair salons in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxemburg and the Netherlands with hair care products; distribution will then be expanded to Switzerland at a later stage. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel will provide picking & packing services via pick-by-voice technology.

The Biebesheim site is tailored to the requirements of the cosmetics industry being able to handle wide product ranges and small packaging sizes. K+N will handle about 1,200 product lines for Colomer.
Martin ter Veen, director customer service and logistics at Colomer, said: “Kuehne + Nagel is experienced with the specific logistics needs of the hair care and beauty industry, and by optimising our distribution activities we will also be able to improve our customer service.”
