Food distributor DBC Foodservice is installing advanced routing and scheduling optimisation software from Paragon Software Systems.
DBC expects the software to reduce operational costs and lower the carbon footprint of its fleet of over 200 dual temperature controlled vehicles.
Paragon will be used centrally to automate all delivery planning, remodelling and optimising of DBC’s existing fixed delivery routes. The software takes into account weights and volumes of deliveries, road and delivery restrictions, mileage and other customer requirements.
Chris Horne, managing director of DBC Foodservice said: “Last month we took delivery of 30 new eco-friendly lorries which have been designed to cut harmful emissions by over a third. We have now installed Paragon software to our entire fleet which will reduce our carbon footprint even further by ensuring that the most efficient routes are used for every single delivery across our nationwide network.”
