German shoe maker Wortmann Group has started operations at its new distribution centre in Detmold, designed by VanRiet.
The box transport system includes high-capacity sorters, recognition, and labelling software, and cross docking facility.
Two palletising robots and additional manual-palletising stations are connected to a monorail pallet-conveyor system and a high bay warehouse.
A tunnel with two infeeds lead to the existing distribution centre on the other side of the
railway track. The transport and sorting installation in the original DC was delivered by Van Riet 10 years ago. The controls and software of this installation have now been modified to integrate with the new control system.
