Maersk Line has enlisted Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering to build an additional ten Triple-E ships, after its original order in February.
The new ships are intended to cover predicted increases in demand on the Asia to Europe routes of five to eight per cent each year during 2011-2015.
The first ten vessels will be delivered in 2013 and 2014; the second ten vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2014 and 2015.
