Cleaning equipment company, Alfred Kärcher, is in the process of expanding its logistics centre in Obersontheim, Germany following a period of growth.
Kärcher enlisted the help of Miebach Consulting for the planning and co-ordination of the extension project which includes TGW’s material flow control and visualisation system.
The extended logistics centre will include a new pallet storage system, an eight aisle mini-load warehouse with 95,000 storage locations used to supply a new high-performance picking area.
Kärcher is also set to install TGW’s Stingray shuttle system to handle the required performance of up to 2,000 storage and retrieval movements per hour.
A tote conveyor system with intelligent empty tote management will connect the storage and picking areas with the packing area.
The extended system will go live at the end of 2012 and is designed to cover any future growth from that point.
