Dutch health and beauty chain Kruidvat has awarded Witron a contract to expand its central distribution centre at Heteren in the Netherlands.
The new design has an AS/RS with tote storage locations, ergonomic picking and repack workstations, and a pallet warehouse for automated pallet storage and retrieval.
Witron is deploying its dynamic picking system that will be integrated into the existing system, also built by Witron. Because this is a modular system the extension can be built while the existing facility is in operation.
The extended site should be operational by the end of 2012. At peak times it is expected to pick over half a million items.
