The British Racing Drivers’ Club, which owns the Silverstone racing circuit, has submitted a planning application to develop a business park and technology park at the site which is near Towcester in Northamptonshire.
For the business park, it is applying for B1/B2/B8 use for up to 122,519 sq m, while at the technology park the application is for B1/B2/B8 use for up to a maximum of 62,662 sq m
Stuart Rolt, chairman of the British Racing Drivers’ Club said: “The submission of this planning application is a big step forward in releasing the commercial potential of Silverstone and its 760 acre Estate.”
It estimates that the development will create around 8,400 permanent jobs in the firms and activities attracted to the site.
The business and technology park developments are part of a wider scheme that includes three hotels, an education campus and improvements to facilities at the circuit itself.
