Toyota Material Handling will be giving away Manual Handling guides and Pride in Performance resource packs over the course of the next month to celebrate Forklift Safety Week which runs from 19th to 24th September.
Toyota commercial director Sam Coles said: “It is estimated that for every £1 paid on damage to equipment £10 is spent on damage to goods – all of which can occur during normal operations. Costs like this are often thought of as unavoidable – the price to pay for getting the goods out on time. At Toyota we believe that damage can be significantly reduced by ensuring that truck operators take pride in their job.”
“The Pride in Performance campaign encourages companies to promote best practice in the workplace, raise awareness about safety and encourage operators to take pride in their performance, taking responsibility for their actions, their safety and the safety of others, ultimately increasing quality levels and aiming to decrease costs.”
All requests for guides will also be entered into a prize draw to win a Toyota Safety Supervisors Course.
National Forklift Safety Week run by the Fork Lift Truck Association was launched in 2008 to raise awareness of dangers, and the importance of common sense measures that can make forklift operation as safe and efficient as possible.
During 2011, Toyota Material Handling has also been an official partner for the Healthy Workplaces Campaign sponsored by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA). It joined forces with EU-OSHA to promote the importance of maintenance and safe maintenance practices across Europe.
