Thomas George has been appointed to the newly created role of chief operating officer of DHL Global Forwarding, with the brief to drive the growth of air and ocean freight products.
He will report directly to Roger Crook, chief executive of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight.
George was previously chief executive officer of DHL Freight – a role that has been filled by Amadou Diallo.
IN his new role, George is responsible for the global air and ocean freight operations including value added services and all other operational functions. The role of COO is a new position within the organisation and has been established to drive the development of DHL’s core products in air and ocean freight, to improve process harmonisation and to strengthen the network business model within the organisation.
Diallo was previously chief executive officer of DHL Global Forwarding for Africa and South Asia Pacific which will be split between Thomas Nieszner, chief executive DHL Europe/Central and Eastern Europe, and Kevin Leung, chief executive DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific.
