DAF has launched a limited edition XF105 tractor unit with the promise that it is the most fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly DAF tractor unit ever made.
It uses the Euro-5 PACCAR 12.9-litre MX engine, which produces 460hp and iscertified to EEV (Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicle) standard.
The trucks have been fitted with DAF’s ATe (advanced transport efficiency) system which is designed to provide improved fuel economy and lower running costs.
ATe features Engine Idle Shutdown, which automatically switches the engine off after five minutes idling time preventing fuel waste. Thhe speed limiter can be factory specified at 85 km/h instead of 89 km/h to help reduce fuel consumption.
Changes have also been made to the 12.9-litre engine at ratings up to and including 460hp; optimising the combustion process, reducing mechanical losses and reducing thermal losses.
