32 per cent of the HGVs and 31 per cent of the vans that were on the road at the end of 2010 would not meet the Low Emission Zone targets that will come into force in January, according to research by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
From 3 January 2012 HGVs will be required to meet Euro 4 standards to be driven within the LEZ without paying a daily charge. Larger vans, minibuses and other specialist diesel vehicles will need to meet Euro 3 emission standards.
