IT trading group Competec has commissioned Swisslog to install an automatic small parts and container storage system at its facility in Switzerland.
In the first stage of installation, an automatic container system will be fitted, which will have 62,000 bins providing 100,000 storage locations. Swisslog will also install 25 workstations for picking and replenishment, and 70 robots.
Operations will be managed by Swisslog’s AutoStore system.
Competec distributes and sells hardware, software and consumer electronics. Its current premises were reaching the limits of its capacity, and stock was housed across several sites. The new warehouse will enable its entire distribution process to be handled from one 500,000 sq ft site.
